We Looked A Major Threat - Keith Hill

19 March 2017

Manager Keith Hill reflects on his side’s 4-1 win over Gillingham at the Crown Oil Arena…

He told Dale PlayerHD: “I think the last time we played badly was against Oxford but we haven’t had the results.

“It’s a results driven business and it puts everyone under pressure, and I think the players will readily admit that it affects confidence. For them [Gillingham] to get the equaliser on what was our first wobble sums up where we’ve been over the last month or so, but I thought the players responded well.

“We hit the cross bar and we hit the post and we looked a major threat. I always have an attacking intent and we’ve scored four goals at home.

“The last two games we’ve played at home have been 3-3s. We arguably defended a bit better today but I’m not overly convinced with that.”

Saturday’s resounding victory over the Gills was Dale’s firs win in the league since January and Hill has praised the club’s Chairman and Board of Directors for seeing the bigger picture.

“It's an important win. I believe in this group of players and I believe in this football club. I believe we should have won more games than we have done and we will win more games as a result of winning that one.

“I’m fortunate that I’ve got a very intelligent Chairman and Board of Directors who can see through not winning a game since early January. They can see the infrastructure that we’re putting in place and the processes that we’re going through to be even more successful at this football club.

“They trust me and I trust them and I believe we can become even more successful if we stick to our plan. That’s where I’ve got a streetwise Chairman, Board of Directors and supporters as well.”
